The CCBB and its BD

The Boreal Biodiversity Conservation Center (Le Centre de Conservation de la Biodiversité Boréale (CCBB) Inc., formerly known as the St-Félicien Zoological Foundation inc. (La Société zoologique de Saint-Félicien inc.) and commonly called the Zoo sauvage of St-Félicien, is a non-profit organization founded in 1960.

Right from the beginning, the willpower of the organization has allowed itself to present a distinctive product which reflects our geographical, historical and cultural reality. The history of the Zoo sauvage has therefore been permeated with this commitment to make it evolve in a touristic and environmental way. The leaders had the conviction not to limit themselves only to emphasize a collection of Nordic animals. They wanted to educate people about the Boreal biodiversity by adding physical and biological elements of nature which illustrated the biodiversity of the Boreal ecozone in a context which allowed not only the distribution, but also the advancement of knowledge for the visitors. To confirm these assertions, the organization changed its calling and became, in 2002, the The Boreal Biodiversity Conservation Center (Centre de Conservation de la Biodiversité Boréale (CCBB) inc.

It is not very often, even extremely rare, that a site accommodates nearly 17 times the population of its locality (175,000 visitors in 2007). The Zoo sauvage of St-Félicien can be proud to have accomplished this achievement and to have made the Town of Saint-Félicien a must-see destination in spite of its remote location far away from large urban centres. The Town of Saint-Félicien is now a Québec tourism landmark.

The organization of human resources represents the pivot point for the operation of our organization. We strive to mobilize all the personnel since they are on the frontline and because they constitute the key of our success. For the managers of the CCBB, the principle of “responsibilisation” is a common denominator which characterizes the whole of human resources. We continuously work to develop this implication and this common vision by which each one is concerned about the success of “its” company and harmonizes its interventions according to the mission as well as following an organisational plan.
