Diet : Omnivorous, feeding on grasses, terrestrial invertebrates, herbaceous leaves and small stones (to help digestion).
Reproduction : Depending on the species and the age, between 6 and 9 months, the hen lays 1 or two eggs per day throughout the year (100 to 300 eggs per year), except in temperate climates where it ceases laying between August and December. The hen incubates a group of 8 to 12 eggs for 19 to 21 days. After hatching, the chicks spend 2 to 3 months with their mother
Lifespan : Up to 15 years in captivity.
