Diet : Carnivorous , it is a major predator of the American porcupine, it also takes small mammals, certain birds and fish.
Reproduction : Sexually mature at 2 years. Mating and birth occur between March and April. The 1-6 young are born after a delayed implantation (10 months) followed by an active gestation period of 2 months, and are weaned after 12-16 weeks.
Lifespan : Up to 11 years in the wild and in captivity.
Predators : Great horned owl, Canadian lynx, bobcats and black bears.
Status : Not at risk, but the rate of habitat (mature forest) loss threatens its future survival.
