Diet : Carnivorous , feeding principally on fish, but also takes crayfish, frogs, molluscs, insects and terrapins
Reproduction : Sexually mature at 2 years. Mating occurs between March and April. The 2-3 cubs are generally born between March and April after a delayed implantation (7½-10½ months) followed by an active gestation period of 2 months, and are weaned after 12-16 weeks.
Lifespan : Up to 14 years in the wild and 23 years in captivity.
Predators : Gray wolves and coyotes.
Status : Population stable, not at risk.
