Diet : Herbivorous , feeding on twigs, bark, and fruit.
Reproduction : The female is sexually mature at 18 months. Mating occurs between late November and mid-December. The 2 fawns are born in June after a gestation period of 7 months, and are weaned after 5 months.
Lifespan : Up to 16 years in the wild and 25 years in captivity.
Predators : Most large terrestrial carnivorous mammals, including pumas, Canadian lynx, grizzly bears, wolverines and coyotes as well as golden eagles.
Status : Abundant, not at risk.
