Diet : Carnivorous, feeding mostly on carrion but also take small or weak animals.
Reproduction : Sexually mature at 1 year. Mating occurs between May and July. The 2-3 young are born between January and April after a delayed implantation (7 months) followed by an active gestation period of 30-40 days, and are weaned after 7-10 weeks.
Lifespan : Up to 10 years in the wild and 17 years in captivity.
Predators : No real natural predator, however, they are occasionally taken by gray wolves, pumas and bears.
Status : In Canada, the eastern population is endangered and the western population is of special concern.
