Diet : Omnivorous, feeding especially on vegetable matter, herbaceous plants, cultivated seeds and grains, but also on shrimp, insects, molluscs, small fish, amphibians and worms.
Reproduction : From the age of 2 years old, mating and egg laying take place between March and May. The female incubates 8 to 10 eggs for 28 to 29 days. The duckling's first flight takes place 50 to 60 days later.
Predators : Foxes, birds of prey and seagulls among others.
Status : Not at risk.
