Diet : Herbivorous, feeding especially on grasses, aquatic plants, seeds and fruit and sometimes on insects and other aquatic organisms.
Reproduction : Mating and egg laying take place between April and July. The female incubates 6 to 10 eggs for approximately 24 days.
Predators : Birds of prey and other predators.
Status : Near threatened; populations are declining.
