Order : Perissodactyla Family : Equidae Diet : Herbivore, feeding on grass, grain and hay. Reproduction : From the age of two and a half, mating takes place in spring or summer. After an approximate 11 month gestation period, the mare generally gives birth to only one foal which will be weaned around 7 months old. Lifespan : Approximately 30 years in captivity.
