Diet : Herbivorous, feeding on roots, fruit, bark and wood of various plants which are either salty, dried, bitter or thorny. When necessary, it can also feed on dead animals.
Reproduction : From 3 to 5 years of age, the male and female mate in the autumn. After a 12 to 14 month gestation period, the female gives birth to only 1 young which will be weaned around 1 year old. Female mates every other year.
Lifespan : Approximately 35 years in the wild.
Predators : Wolves and man, even today.
Status : Critically endangered; there are less than a thousand individuals in the wild and populations are declining. However, there are more than one million domestic camels.
