Diet : Herbivorous, feeding principally on leaves, bark and hardwood twigs, including aspen.
Reproduction : Sexually mature at 2 years. Mating occurs between January and February. The 3-4 young are born between May and June after a gestation period of 14-15 weeks, and are weaned after 10 weeks.
Lifespan : Up to 12 years in the wild and about 20 years in captivity.
Predators : Gray wolves, Canadian lynx, bobcats, bears, coyotes, fishers, wolverines, and river otters.
Status : Common, not at risk.
